Nuba serves up terrific Lebanese cuisine for those looking for a quick and delicious option for a downtown lunch or early dinner. The key to Nuba's success seems to be its simplicity - they aren't trying to fuse their food with some sort of West Coast influence or other random culinary style - the owners and chefs appear to know Lebanese flavours and stick to them. Traditional dishes like taboulleh (sm. $3.75, lg. $6), baba ghanooj (sm. $4, lg. $5) and hummous (sm. $3.5, lg. $4.5) have obviously been prepared with love while mains like the garden falafel ($4.75) and shish tawook (lemon garlic chicken; pita $6, plate $7.95) will make you wonder why it took you so long to come. As an added bonus, Nuba has a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including soups which flavours change frequently. The restaurant itself is small with seating for about 12-15 but the helpings make for perfect to-go fare. Do yourself a favour and make a change from your regular downtown haunts and head to Nuba. You'll never go back to the food court in the mall again.
