Finch's Tea & Coffee House

Finch's Tea & Coffee House

353 West Pender Street
Vancouver, BC

Stepping through the door of Finch's Tea & Coffee House, you may get confused as to your whereabouts and what year it is. Paris, perhaps? Vancouver in 1940? There is something comfortably familiar about the place. Antiques adorn the tastefully decorated room where cracked plaster walls expose bricks beneath and the hardwood floors creak under your feet. It feels like going into the kitchen where grandma would sneak you a taste of the cookie batter. Owner Jamie Smith has done a great job to oversee the creation of such a place.

Using the freshest of ingredients, Finch's menu of baguette sandwiches, soups, salads and cheese plates is undeniably awesome, as well as being displayed in ornate picture frames above the front counter. If you are visiting for the first time, go for a Finch's staple - the bocconcini, tomato & basil baguette ($7.25) is simple, but will have you wondering how a meal with so few ingredients can possibly taste so good. For a more unique flavour, opt for a baguette with baked brie, walnuts & prosciutto ($7.75) or gypsy salami with pesto mayo ($6.95). In charming fashion, baguettes are brought to your table served on simple brown paper - meals this tasty don't need to be dolled up. Most any baguette can also be served as a salad. In keeping with its somewhat continental feel, Finch's offers cheese plates, decorated with complementary tastes. Share the smoked applewood cheddar with crackers, apple, grapes, green olives & walnuts ($8.75) and finish your meal with the daily soup. To top off the Finch's experience, do yourself a favour and have a long espresso or choose from a selection of loose teas. Oh, and did we mention the sweet baked goods? Fresh cakes, loaves, cookies and more will have your tastebuds tingling. Oh my.

As you open the restaurant door and step out onto West Pender you will already be planning your return flight to Finch's.
