The Festival's goal is to approach the outdoor communities of the Pacific North-West, and to offer them films and slide presentations dealing with mountain culture and mountain sports. The Festival will also create a platform for the exchange of ideas between filmmakers, outdoor activists, and the public, while at the same time it will support the most artistic and effective ways of communicating outdoor related issues.

Organizers support gay artists and filmmakers and give them an avenue through which to exhibit their work. This year marks the 26th anniversary of this influential international film festival. It focuses on Canadian filmmakers, giving them a much needed venue at which to gain attention. Organizers also feature works from as far away as South Africa and Lebanon. In the past, films like Motorcycle Diaries, The Corporation and The Last Wedding have been featured at this exceptional festival.
Now, with a brilliant new facility 1181 Seymour St., the festival looks to grow even more in both prestige and international relevance. Watch for it this Fall.

Vancouver's multiculturalism is reflected in this burgeoning film festival. It highlights the work of Asian filmmakers from around the world. Organizers have made their mandate to bridge the gap between Asian movies and Canadian audiences. No small feat, but a great range of films and workshops seems to be doing a great job so far.

The Vancouver leg of the touring RESFEST festival is held at the Vancouver International Film Centre. Featuring a huge range of digital works, the event brings the year's best short films, music videos and animation to major cities on three continents.
