The Athletics capped off a successful 2007 by posting a 9 - 0 - 1 going undefeated with one tie. They lead the league in runs for with 94 and 19 points. This was the first league championship for the Athletics. The Athletics were able to hold off the perennial favorites, the Yankees, in the search for the league crown. The Yankees, the nemesis of the Athletics, won the league title last year but were fifth in the standings this year.
The Yankees got the best of the Athletics in the playoffs. In a spirited 6-4 game the Athletics were unable to continue through the playoffs. Few players wanted to comment on the teams exit from the playoffs but Jackson Scrymgeour had this to say:
"I am really proud of the team and all we were able to accomplish this year. I look forward to next year when we have that championship experience under our belt and can use it to win the league for the second time and to advance further in the playoffs. I felt a real bond with my teammates and this experience will be a lifetime memory for all of us."
Hasting Community Little League has been a staple in Vancouver for 54 years. It is committed to developing citizenship, teamwork and healthy lifestyles in kids the ages of 5 to 13 years old.
